Wires and water.

Bestfix covers both sides of the house: the electrical installation and the plumbing and heating that runs through it. Below is the full list, in the order people usually need it — emergencies first, planned work after. Bestfix describe themselves as NICEIC-approved and Gas Safe registered.

01

24/7 Emergency Call-Outs

Power off across the house, a consumer unit that keeps tripping, a burst pipe or a boiler that's died on the coldest night of the year — Bestfix answers out of hours as a matter of course, not as a favour. Because Balazs holds both trades, an emergency doesn't turn into two separate call-outs: the electrics and the pipework are dealt with in the same visit. One Guildford customer had an engineer at the door 45 minutes after calling, past 10pm on a Saturday.

02

Domestic & Commercial Electrical

Everyday electrical work across houses, flats and commercial premises: replacing tired fuse boxes with modern consumer units carrying RCD and surge protection, repairing damaged or overheated wiring, chasing intermittent faults back to their actual cause, and putting right the accumulated bodges that show up in older properties. Faults get traced methodically rather than fixed by swapping parts until something works.

03

EICR, EIC & Electrical Safety Testing

Full electrical inspection and testing, issued as the certificate your situation actually requires: an EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) for landlords, homebuyers and anyone who simply wants to know where they stand; an EIC (Electrical Installation Certificate) for new work; and EPC energy assessments. Every observation is explained in plain English — what the code means, whether it's urgent, and what putting it right involves.

04

Plumbing — Leaks, Drips & Pipework

The plumbing half of the business: dripping taps and overflow pipes, slow leaks staining a ceiling, failed compression joints, corroded or badly routed pipework, isolation valves that have seized. Leaks get traced to the source — which is not always where the water appears — and the pipework is repaired or rerun so it stops being a recurring problem. Sinks, appliances and bathroom fittings plumbed in and tested before anyone leaves.

05

Boiler Repair & Servicing

Boilers that lock out, lose pressure, fire up and cut out, or make hot water but not heat. Bestfix diagnoses and repairs the fault, and services boilers to keep them running efficiently between breakdowns. The useful difference here: a surprising number of "boiler faults" are actually electrical — a spur, a thermostat circuit, a timer, a damaged cable. One review describes exactly that: an electrical issue affecting a boiler, sorted confidently on an out-of-hours call.

06

Central Heating & Radiators

Radiators relocated for a new kitchen or a redecorated room, old panels swapped for modern ones, thermostatic valves fitted, and systems rebalanced so the far end of the house heats up at roughly the same time as the near end. Cold at the bottom, cold at the top, noisy pipework and a system that never quite gets warm all point to different causes — they get diagnosed rather than guessed at. One customer's elderly parent's very old central heating system was sorted out top to bottom.

07

Gas Safety Inspections

Gas safety inspections of boilers, cookers and fires — checking appliance operation, ventilation, flues and gas pressures, then documenting the result. Landlords in England and Wales need an annual gas safety check on every gas appliance and flue in a let property, with a copy to the tenant; homeowners aren't legally obliged but usually find the same check is what keeps a boiler warranty intact. Bestfix describes itself as Gas Safe registered.

08

Smart Home Automation

Smart lighting that switches to a scene rather than a single glaring ceiling light, controls that stop heating and power being spent on empty rooms, and CCTV positioned where it's genuinely useful instead of pointing at a hedge. Installed, wired and configured properly — including the unglamorous part, which is setting it up so the people living in the house can work it without a manual.

09

Air Conditioning — Coming Soon

Air conditioning is listed as coming soon rather than pretended to be live. If you're planning a system — a single wall unit for a hot south-facing bedroom, or something for an office that becomes unworkable in July — it's worth calling to ask where that has got to, because the electrical supply side of an install is already squarely in Bestfix's wheelhouse.

10

Appliance Repair — Referred On

Washing machines, dishwashers and ovens that have failed mechanically aren't Bestfix's trade, and the honest answer is a recommendation rather than a shrug: ask and you'll be pointed at a repairer Bestfix works with. What does stay in-house is the supply side — the spur, the socket, the isolator or the cable feeding the appliance, plus the plumbing in and out of it.

Why one engineer for both

The faults that sit between the trades are the ones that waste your week.

Boiler that won’t fire

Could be the PCB, could be the fused spur, the timer or a chewed cable in the airing cupboard. A heating engineer without the electrical side has to stop at the spur; Bestfix doesn’t.

Leak into a light fitting

Water tracking along a joist and dripping into a downlight is two jobs at once — isolate and test the circuit, then find and stop the leak. Same visit, same engineer.

Immersion or electric shower

Heavy loads, hot water and a dedicated circuit: exactly the combination where a plumber needs an electrician and an electrician needs a plumber.

Tested, then written up.

Where a job needs a certificate — an EICR, an installation certificate, a gas safety record — you get it with the findings explained rather than left as a page of codes. Rated 4.8 on Google.
