About · one engineer, two trades

Small on purpose.

Bestfix is Balazs — a Guildford electrician who also works as a plumbing and heating engineer. Bestfix Ltd was incorporated in March 2018 and has one director. There is no branch network, no call centre and no rota of subcontractors: you speak to the engineer and the engineer turns up.

That combination of trades is the thing worth knowing. A great many household faults live exactly on the boundary — a boiler that won't fire because of its electrical supply, a leak that has found its way into a ceiling light, an immersion heater that has cooked its own cable. Those jobs usually mean two firms, two waits and a certain amount of each blaming the other. Here they mean one visit.

Day to day the work is domestic and commercial electrical — consumer units, wiring repairs, fault finding, EICRs, EICs and EPCs — alongside plumbing and heating: leaks and drips, pipework, boiler repair and servicing, moving and replacing radiators, and gas safety inspections. Smart home automation gets added when a customer wants lighting scenes, power saving or CCTV. Air conditioning is listed as coming soon, and appliance repairs get referred to a repairer Bestfix trusts rather than taken on for the sake of it.

Bestfix describes itself as NICEIC-approved and Gas Safe registered. Both registers are public, so it is always worth asking any engineer — including this one — for their registration before gas or notifiable electrical work, and checking it yourself.

The reviews say the rest. Rated 4.8 on Google, and consistently about the same things: turning up when it was late, finding the actual cause, and explaining what needed doing next.

How a job runs.

Three steps, and none of them involve being passed to someone else.

01

Call, any hour

One number, answered by the person who'll be doing the work. Describe what's happening — the noise, the smell, the trip switch that won't stay up — and you'll get a straight answer about whether it's an emergency or something that can wait until morning.

02

Diagnose before quoting

The cause gets traced before anything is replaced. Reviewers describe exactly this: the problem diagnosed, then the switches and burnt wiring dealt with. No parts fitted on a guess, and no work starting before you know what it involves.

03

Fixed, tested, written up

Work is tested before it's signed off, and where a certificate applies — an EICR, an installation certificate, a gas safety record — you're handed it with the faults and recommendations explained rather than buried in codes.

Where Bestfix works

Guildford first, then out across Surrey and into London.

Home patch is Guildford and the surrounding Surrey towns, with regular work out towards Epsom and into London. If you're not sure whether you're in range, the quickest answer is a phone call.
